The following are reservoirs and Lakes in Putnam County under DEP regulations and require a New York State fishing license and NYC DEP access permit (free). Boats are not allowed except by special DEP boat permit.
Thousands of Brown Trout are stocked yearly except Boyds, Middle Branch and East Branch also known as Sodom. Boyds and East Branch are stocked with Walleye. Middle Branch stocked with Tiger Muskie. There are other species to catch that are not stocked.
Over 700 Lake Trout stocked in Lake Gleneida and over 600 in Lake Gilead every two years.
West Branch 1500 Land Lock Salmon stocked every two years.

The East Branch Croton River is Stocked-Extended and is stocked 4 times between March and May. Total of 3700 Brown Trout and 3700 Rainbow trout. Special regulations on limits and size apply. Walleye and panfish are also found. Some 6 to 8 pounds trout have been caught.
The West Branch Croton River from Croton Reservoir outlet to the confluence is Catch and Release with Artificial lures only. Stocked 4 times between March and May. Total of 1040 Brown Trout.
The West Branch Croton River between Boyds Corner reservoir outlet and West Branch reservoir inlet. Stocked 800 in March. State default limits apply.
West Branch Croton River from Croton Falls Reservoir upstream to West Branch Reservoir Dam (Wild Quality). Special regulations apply.
East Branch Croton River below Diverting Reservoir to the confluence of West Branch Croton River

West Branch reservoir outlet to Croton Falls inlet.
White Pond is stocked Yearly with 300 Walleye by the Putnam Federation of Sporting Clubs. There are other species to catch that are not stocked. White Pond is a great location to fish from shore or a small boat. Shore fisherman have multiple places to fish along the bank.
Stillwater is stocked in March with 1000 Brown Trout and 1050 Rainbows. There are other species to catch that are not stocked. To access Stillwater, you need a pass from the park manager across from Pelton Pond. Best access from a kayak or canoe. It's part of the Fahnestock State Park (Clarence Fahnestock). Off the Taconic Parkway, southbound, 1 mile south of Route 301. Parking for 10 cars. Electric Motors Only. Permit required, available from park manager.
Pelton Pond is stocked with 350 Rainbows. There are other species to catch that are not stocked. It's part of the Fahnestock State Park (Clarence Fahnestock). Pelton Pond, located right off of Route 301, is best to fish from shore. A map of the trails surrounding the pond can be found at the parking area.

Lake Mahopac is accessible by boat or Town Park. The link for the Lake Mahopac below the map points to the details of the variety of fish. It's know for Largemouth and Smallmouth bass but recently been stocking Walleye. Mahopac Lake is one of the few Putnam County waterbodies that is accessible to the public and is not part of the NYC watershed. Mahopac Lake also allows you to use a gasoline powered craft
Canopus Lake is part of the Fahnestock State Park (Clarence Fahnestock). There is a boat launch site for small boats with electric motors only. Canoes and Kayaks also allowed.
